What to expect
The Société de Musique of La Chaux-de-Fonds invites you to close the year with music through two concerts celebrating the festive season.
The first will take place on Sunday, December 7 at 5:00 p.m. and will feature Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (Cantatas I, II, III and VI). It will bring together La Cetra – Baroque Ensemble from Basel, including both orchestra and choir, under the direction of Italian conductor Andrea Marcon, who is also a professor at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. The soloists will be Robin Johannsen, Alex Potter, Jakob Pilgram, and Ben Kazez. The program booklet and texts of the Christmas Oratorio can be consulted in this mailing. This concert will be recorded by RTS Espace 2.
The second concert will take place on Sunday, December 14, as part of our New Talents series, in partnership with RTS. Italian harpist Letizia Lazzerini, trained in Lausanne and winner of numerous prizes, will perform an eclectic and internationally flavored program, featuring works by Renié, Britten, and other composers from around the world — myths, allegories, and reflections on life will be central themes of this concert.
These two concerts offer a special opportunity to celebrate the end of the year with music, in the company of exceptional artists.
To extend the holiday spirit, on Sunday, January 4, we will welcome Jean-Luc Thellin, former titular organist of Chartres Cathedral, for our traditional New Year Organ Concert, featuring in particular an excerpt from The Nutcracker. On Sunday, January 11, young Swiss pianist Simon Popp will take the stage with a program ranging from Mozart to Rachmaninov. And on Thursday, January 15, Isabelle Faust and Alexander Melnikov will open our Main Series with a premiere program (the duo will perform it for the first time) from Prokofiev to Busoni, on their new tour.
All concerts will take place at the Salle de musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
